REFUSE COLLECTION INFORMATION
COLLECTION SCHEDULE:
City refuse collections are weekly, on Thursdays.
The collection schedule may vary when a major holiday falls on a weekday.
HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
Unless otherwise notified by Stevens Disposal, there will be no collection on the following six holidays:

When the holiday falls on a weekday, there will be no collections on that day, and the rest of that week’s refuse, recycling, and yard waste will be collected on FRIDAY. If the holiday falls on a weekend, your collection day WILL NOT change.
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS
WHERE: Place your refuse can, your recycling bin and your yard waste containers at the curb for collection.
SET-OUT TIME: Set containers out no earlier that https://storage.googleapis.com/juniper-media-library/153/2024/11 on the evening before collection, and no later than 7:00 AM on the morning of collection. Return your containers to your storage location by the end of the collection day.
BULKY ITEMS: Large household items (that cannot fit in a trash can or bag) will be picked up on the collection day. You must call Stevens Disposal directly at 734-279-2611 or 800-779-0344 to schedule bulky item pick-up.
Bulky items include:
- Carpet - please bundle in 3-foot lengths and secure for one person to handle
- Water softeners
- Hot water heaters
- Mattresses
- Furniture
- Large appliances including refrigerators and others containing Freon

YARD WASTE COLLECTION INFORMATION
COLLECTION SEASON
Grass clippings, brush, and other yard waste will be collected weekly, on Thursdays, from the first pick up in April through the last pick up in November
PREPARATION
Place grass, leaves, weeds and garden waste into Kraft paper biodegradable bags (available at hardware stores and garden centers), and securely close the bags.
Or you may place those materials loosely in watertight cans that are clearly marked "YARD WASTE".
Cans or bags should not be more than 32 gallons in capacity, nor weigh more than 50 pounds when filled.
Twigs, brush and shrubbery must be tied in bunches. Each piece should not be more than 4 feet in length, and not more than 6 inches in diameter.

ACCEPTABLE ITEMS
NEWSPAPERS
May include color comic sections and glossy inserts. Please place newspaper and inserts flat in the bottom of your recycling bin or put them in a brown paper bag and place the bag in your recycling bin.
GLASS BOTTLES & JARS
All colors of glass food and beverage containers. Please rinse out and remove lids. Labels are OK.
*No Pyrex, window glass, ceramics, light bulbs, mirrors, drinking glasses or broken glass.
METAL, FOOD, & BEVERAGE CANS
Tin, steel, and aluminum cans or baking tins that held food or beverages. Also, lids from glass jars and bottles. Rinse clean, labels are OK. Flatten cans if possible.
CORRUGATED CARDBOARD BOXES
Placed in the bin if it is flattened or cut in sheets to fit the bin
PHONE BOOKS
Placed in your recycling bin after removing the slick covers
UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS
The following are NOT allowed in the recycling bins and cannot be recycled:
- Styrofoam containers/packing
- Pizza boxes
- Aerosol cans
- Paint cans
- Motor oil cans/containers
- Chemical containers
